About the Ringwood Garden Club
Celebrating Over 50 Years of Community and Growth (1973–Present)

The Ringwood Garden Club was founded in 1973 by a small group of individuals united by a shared passion for gardening. By 1978, the club became federated and continues to grow as an active member of the Garden Club of New Jersey (District 1), the National Garden Clubs, Inc. (Central Atlantic Region), and the NJBG / Skylands Association.

Mission

Today, as we look ahead beyond more than five decades of service, the club remains dedicated to its founding mission:

  • To promote education in all facets of horticulture, botany, and conservation.

  • To promote beautification of the Ringwood area and the New Jersey State Botanical Gardens at Skylands Manor.

  • To promote active engagement in environmental issues primarily the preservation of the New Jersey Highlands, Sterling Forest, and the wetlands.

  • To promote an understanding of the therapeutic effect of being in close contact with the natural world through gardening.

The Ringwood arden Club continues to bring together individuals who share a love of gardening, learning, and giving back creating a vibrant and welcoming community for all.

  • Participate in various club committees.

  • Volunteer hours at New Jersey Botanical Gardens during annual Holiday Open House

  • Volunteer workshops in the clubs Garden Club with No Borders at an area assisted living and memory adult day program

  • Receive GCNJ quarterly newsletter.

  • Member Garden tours and area garden tours

  • June Gathering: Members and guests enjoy delicious home-made food prepared by members.

  • In December, a Holiday Dinner is held in a member’s home to celebrate the holiday season and welcome in the New Year.

  • Social gatherings, Friendship, Fun, Education, Workshops with those who love gardening.

  • All Ringwood Garden Club members are entitled to discounts at designated garden centers. Subject to showing Membership card.

  • Attend GCNJ State Fall Conferences, Annual Meetings and State District Meetings.

  • Attend Schools: Flower Show, Landscape Design, Gardening Study and Symposiums.

  • Attend GCNJ State sponsored projects, field trips, workshops, meetings, and tours.

  • Resources from current master gardeners on joining master gardener’s courses

BENEFITS OF JOINING RINGWOOD GARDEN CLUB
When we meet:

General meetings: Held on the third Tuesday of the month (September – June) at 6 PM at the Ringwood Public Library.

Board meetings: First Tuesday of the month, 1:30 PM at the Ringwood Public Library.

Ongoing Projects
Civic Development

We design, plant, and maintain seasonal containers at the Ringwood Public Library Reading Garden, creating a beautiful and inviting space for the community to enjoy.

New Jersey State Botanical Garden

Each year, we take part in the Botanical Garden’s Holiday Open House, designing and decorating a festive winter-themed room.

We also contribute a silent auction basket to help raise funds in support of the gardens.

Ringwood Public Library Displays

Members design and curate a library display case, featuring:

  • Seasonal floral arrangements

  • Gardening inspiration

  • Creative themed exhibits

Garden Days

Members open their private gardens to fellow members, providing opportunities to:

  • Share ideas and inspiration

  • Experience beautiful, diverse landscapes

  • Build lasting friendships

Garden Club with No Borders

We extend our club community to a local Assisted Living residence, fostering meaningful connections and companionship.

From September through June, members offer programs, workshops, and hands-on activities for residents.

Center for Food Action

We proudly support the Ringwood food pantry through an annual member donation, giving back to those in need within our community.
